Stasinopoulos: “We hope for a good cooperation”
With three staff members, exclusively for its Service, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection was staffed in Zakynthos, as part of its actions to strengthen its work in our country. A total of 192 people have been hired throughout Greece, with their main task being the detection of positive cases of coronavirus and their close contacts, while it is worth noting that they have received training in all business plans of the General Secretariat. Civil Protection and can intervene in matters of fire, flood, earthquake and other natural disasters and special conditions.
For the current phase, the three people are supervised by the respective Deputy Regional Governor; while in the future there will be an exclusive Regional Coordinator for the Civil Protection staff of each prefecture.
The Deputy Regional Governor of Zakynthos George Stasinopoulos referred to the work of Civil Protection and the staffing of our island with three people who will contribute significantly in many areas, noting that “We observe the struggle of the current government to reduce the spread of coronavirus with staff of all the Regional Units with executives from the General Secretariat of Civil Protection. We have seen that in the crisis of the last decade, Civil Protection has made huge strides. A simple secretariat has already become a State Ministry and staffs all the Regional Units throughout Greece with specialized and trained staff. At the moment, three people have been granted to our island by the General Secretariat in order to help us in the level of tracking but also in any crisis situation that needs to intervene on our island “.
Mr. Stasinopoulos stressed that the Civil Protection has already been properly equipped for the three executives, while he stressed that the Regional Unit of Zakynthos will help where needed to enable this staff to work adequately, as “we have staffed this department of Civil Protection with the three executives. We have equipped it and are waiting for the instructions from the General Secretariat. They are at the disposal of our Regional Unit to intervene and following the instructions of the General Secretariat to do what is provided and what they have been trained to do “.
The Deputy Regional Governor of Zakynthos informed about the reinforcement in the Ionian by Civil Protection officials and pointed out that it is a great help both for our island and for the other areas that will have the specific staff and will help them.
He added: “It is a great help for us and for the Civil Protection of our island. All the Ionian Islands have been staffed. There will be 4 in Corfu, 2 in Lefkada and Kefalonia and 3 in Zakynthos. Later in the planning there will be a Regional Coordinator for the Civil Protection staff. We supervise the project and help the specific executives. We hope to be able to have a very good cooperation “.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection, due to the needs of the coronavirus pandemic, acquires an even more realistic and substantial status in every place. The presence of three young people of the Service on our island will help solve many problems, as they will be able to assist in any problem that arises and help our place to overcome all the issues and obstacles in its path.
